On October 16, 2020, my father passed away due to complications from COVID-19. In response to my pain, grief, and sorrow, I sought to channel these emotions into a purposeful endeavor.
The inspiration for 'It's Gonna Get Better' came from one of our favorite songs by the band Genesis. Discovering an old cassette tape with the song written in my father's handwriting was a poignant moment. Realizing the universal message it held for those navigating difficult times, I decided to digitize his handwriting and have it embroidered across the chest of each sweatshirt. Additionally, a small yellow heart, representing all lives lost to COVID-19, is on the sleeve of each sweatshirt.
'It's Gonna Get Better' is a simple phrase that encapsulates my father's joy and optimism. The objective of this project is to extend the same comfort it has brought to me to others who may be facing challenges.
THE CASSETTE
Pulling inspiration from my fathers cassette tape, I digitized his handwriting and created a brand around this nostalgic piece.

CUSTOM HANDWRITING
I was able to offer a way for others to memorialize their loved ones by having an option for them to send in handwriting. After digitization, I embroidered the handwriting on the sleeve of each sweatshirt, providing tangible comfort and sentiment.
